Diana J. Hizer, nee Shalek, age 68, of Lombard, passed away peacefully at home on June 26th, 2021.
She is survived by her son Daniel Mahlke of Elmwood Park, daughter Jennifer Cooper (Dan) and granddaughter McKenna Cooper, of Lombard.
Diane was born to the late Robert J. Shalek & Inge L. Shalek nee Kruger, August 12, 1952 in Chicago, Illinois.
She graduated from Addison Trail High School in 1970 and obtained her Associate of Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services in 1987 from College of DuPage. Diane was an Emergency Room Paramedic at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village for many years.
Diane was an immensely proud and loving Mother & Grandmother; her children and her Granddaughter were the light of her life. She adored any moment she could have in the kitchen cooking and baking with McKenna. Diane also was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and hosting amazing holiday celebrations.
To a few, she was known as Mom or “Gamma”, to some, she was Diane or “Di”, however, to many, she was loved dearly, cherished always, and will be forever missed.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on August 12, 2021 from 3 PM until 8 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St, Lombard.
