Obituary

Marilyn J. Rittmueller, 89, of Lombard, IL, was called home on Thursday, March 10, 2022.

Born December 23,1932, in Pontiac, IL, she was the daughter of Edward (Leo) Peppard and Gladys (Fuller) Peppard.

Marilyn was raised in Pontiac and went to elementary and high school there. Following her high school graduation, she attended Illinois State University-Normal, where she met her future husband, Glenn Rittmueller. After graduating from college, she and Glenn moved to Georgia where Marilyn began her teaching career and Glenn served in the US Army. When Glenn was discharged from the Army, they returned to Elmhurst and lived with Glenn's mother. Several years later they purchased their home in Villa Park and Marilyn began teaching in School District 45, until her retirement in 1990. After they sold their home, they moved to Beacon Hill in Lombard, IL.

When Marilyn was in high school, she played the saxophone in the marching band and worked summers in the fields detasseling corn.

Marilyn and Glenn enjoyed traveling, taking trips to the Northwoods in Wisconsin and to the Northeast to enjoy the colorful autumn leaves. After their retirement, they traveled throughout Canada and Europe.

Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Claire Soto; grandsons, Daniel Soto and Christopher (Christina) Soto; and great-grandchildren, Mira, Hendrix, and Lucy. She is also survived by her nieces, Nicki (Bob) Rosenbaum and Barb (Lyle) Wilson.
