Peter Michael Vardakis, 73, of Glen Ellyn passed away on November 14, 2020.

He was born February 21, 1947 in Kew Gardens a neighborhood of New York City, New York, to loving parents Michael and Mary (Cankos) Vardakis.

Peter grew up in New York City and Long Island. He graduated from Alfred G. Berner High School in Massapequa, New York and received a degree in teaching from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where he met his wife Cathy. Peter taught Industrial Arts at Elmwood Park High School in Elmwood Park, Illinois for 17 years. He then started his own computer cleaning and repair business, Comp-U-Clean, which he operated until he retired.  

Growing up near the Great South Bay in Massapequa, New York, Peter developed a passion for boating, water skiing, clamming, and fishing. He enjoyed cooking and had an interest in coin collecting, antique pottery, and Lionel trains. He was very handy and liked to fix and build things. Peter was known for his sense of humor and his kindness and compassion. He was always a good friend.

Peter is survived by his wife of 50 years Cathy (Glad) Vardakis, his daughter Kristine Vardakis, a sister Angela (Edward) Skiber, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Peter was preceded in death by his parents,Michael and Mary Vardakis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois at WWW.NKFI. Org or National Kidney Foundation of Illinois at 215 W. Illinois Street, Suite 1C, Chicago, IL 60654.
