Phyllis Elaine Sage, currently of Roswell, Georgia, formerly of Lombard and Elgin, IL, died on October 29, 2020 with family surrounding her. She bravely battled congestive heart failure and respiratory disease.
She is survived by her sisters, Kathleen (Howard) Harris, Betty (David) Gobbel; children, Michaelene (Todd) Kearney, Tim (Kim) Sage, Scott Sage, Karl (Amy) Sage, Pamela (Julie Spielman) Sage; grandchildren, Sage Kearney, Morgan Kearney, Reagan Kearney, Phil Oliver, Chelsea Oliver, Kayla (Lane) Smith, Daniel Sage, Brittani Sage, Trevor Sage, Anna Sage; great grandchildren, Ryan Sage, Landon Oliver, Cloie Oliver, Blaylin Smith, Alaiah Smith and well-loved nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was born May 8, 1937 to Genevieve and Roy Port in Sioux City, South Dakota. She was one of four daughters. She loved being a big sister, being around and joking with her cousins and being a mother of five children. She was family oriented, was known for her long, gorgeous nails, her famous peanut butter fudge, her practical jokes and her endless love of animals. In her words, she “ “lead a long and happy life”.
In addition to raising a family, she loved her work as a bus driver and having a lasting and positive impact on children. Her hard work and dedication paid off as she became the transportation company’s Safety Director. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her pranks, playfulness and contagious smile were present until her passing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland R. Sage (1985); father, Roy Port (1992); mother, Genevieve (Trudeau) Smith (2003); step-brother, Milton Bottorff (2007); grandson Robert R. Sage (2013), and sister Shirley Port (2015).
