Robert K. “Bob” Allison, 71, of Roselle, beloved uncle, brother and brother-in-law, died on Jan. 6, 2021.
He was born July 25,1949, in Denver, Colo., to the late Mary Louise and Charles K. “Chuck” Allison and was the third of four children. He grew up in Littleton, Colo., and Wheaton and Arlington Heights, Ill., and was a 1967 graduate of Forest View High School.
He entered the U.S. Army in 1967 and served as an aircraft mechanic during Vietnam, rising to the rank of sergeant before his discharge in 1970.
He worked as a bartender in Breckenridge, Colo., a restaurant manager in Sacramento, Calif., trained as a forest ranger/firefighter in Oregon, and graduated from Oregon State University in 1985 before returning to the Chicago area and settling in Roselle.
Bob was a connoisseur of fine wine and spirits and worked for many years at Southern Wine & Spirits until his retirement. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle across the U.S. to visit family and friends and had a deep love of music that he instilled in his nieces.
Bob is preceded in death by his father, Charles; his mother, Mary Louise; and his brothers, Larry and Dave. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Allison of Lincoln City, Ore.; four nieces, Katie Allison of Glen Ellyn, Andra A. (Jack) Moore of Fairfax, Va., Jocelyn C. Allison of Des Plaines, and Rebecca C. Allison of Des Plaines; and two sisters-in-law, Patty Allison of Glen Ellyn and Shirley J. Allison of Des Plaines. He was great-uncle to Henry and Thomas Benka of Lombard; and Liam Porter, and Cormac, Sullivan, and Maeve Moore, all of Fairfax, Va.
